Our Taffy Story: The Sweet Treat Program update

Introduced to Seaside Lodging LLC in 2010, the Sweet Treat campaign is a taffy sales program to raise funds for Distressed Children International. DCI helps support underprivileged orphan children and families living in extreme poverty with education, childcare, and medical needs. Half-pound bags of taffy are sold in the hotel lobby and 100% of the proceeds go directly to the charity.

Thanks to guests and employees DCI has helped over 40-50 kids per year since the program started in 2010. Each child needs $200 a year in financial support and together it has been able to help 40-50 kids per year since the program started in 2010.

Due to the company’s contribution, Managing Director, Masudur Khan was awarded the 2019 Key Contributor Award by Dhaka City Mayor, Atiqul Islam. This honorable recognition ceremony was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on April 19th, 2019.

“The kids are receiving love and nurture rather than just a place to stay. They’re loved, they know the culture, learning music and all the things that kids should (or are supposed to) get to have a happy and fulfilling life.” said Masudur Khan, Managing Director of Seaside Lodging after returning from his visit from the orphanage.
